We’re Proud to Announce Our San Antonio Zoo Partnership!

There are a few places that every local and visitor has to experience at least once when they’re in the Alamo City. The San Antonio Zoo is one of those places.

The zoo in San Antonio, TX is seriously impressive – and not just because it’s 35 acres of animal awesomeness. You can easily spend an entire day checking out over 3,500 animals, interacting with exotic beasts (feed a flamingo or giraffe!) and enjoying special events throughout the year. The zoo is also sponsoring amazing work to fulfill their conservation mission.

The San Antonio Zoo is working with partners around the world on three continents and across the U.S. to make a difference in the animal kingdom. Their team is conducting transnational research and participating in projects that are focused on preserving endangered species and imperiled ecosystems. Right now their work is helping fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects and crustaceans.

That’s why Extreme Escape is partnering with the San Antonio Zoo to raise awareness and help preserve animals and ecosystems that make Texas such a unique environment.

At one time the Texas Horned Lizard was a common sight around the Lone Star State. They were so common the species was named the state reptile of Texas. Today, it’s rare to see them out in the wild. So rare, the San Antonio Zoo is breeding Texas Horned Lizards and plan to reintroduce them to natural habitats. The program utilizes genetics technology, GIS data and a wealth of information gathered about the lizard’s ecology. The project was launched in 2016, but funds are still needed to complete a lizard room at the zoo that will house dozens of breeder lizards.

Visit the San Antonio Museum of Art

San Antonio has a vibrant art scene that spans cultures and countries. The San Antonio Museum of Art is a mecca for art lovers but can also be appreciated by people who aren’t avid art consumers. This isn’t your typical art museum. It’s housed in multiple conjoined buildings, which have enough space to house exhibits with 5,000 years worth of various art. It’s one of the few museums in the world where you’ll see oil paintings, handcrafted furniture, fine jewelry and pieces made with found objects all in the same place.

Pet Sea Creatures at the San Antonio Aquarium

The San Antonio Zoo and SeaWorld are mostly outdoor attractions. However, at the San Antonio Aquarium you can get an up close look at animals and still enjoy climate control. There are dozens of tanks filled with a variety of sea creatures found off the coast of Texas and beyond. If you’re not afraid to get wet you can pet a stingray or feed some of the aquatic wildlife.

Humans are capable of amazing feats. Nothing puts that in perspective like the Guinness World Records Museum. The popular publication comes to life at this San Antonio location where you’ll be treated to spectacles like real artifacts, live shows and interactive games.

You can even try to make it into the record books! There’s an attempt arena where you can try to make the best time to earn your spot in the Guinness World Records.

Chunk Dangerous Objects at Class Axe Throwing

Throwing chunky sharp objects may seem like an outdoor activity, but at Class Axe Throwing it can be done indoors. Professionals will first show you how to safely and properly throw an axe. Once you get the hang of it you can play target games that are similar to darts or bowling. Class Axe Throwing is BYOB, however it may be best to leave the beer at home when you’re tossing blades.

Try to Get Out of a San Antonio Escape Room

Inside of an escape room in San Antonio you’ll completely forget what it’s like outside. An escape room is like a lifesize video game where you’re transported to another time and place. Have you ever wanted to travel to the darkest corners of the universe? Encounter is your chance to venture into outer space where a man-eating alien waits for you and your crew. Figure out how to restore power to your spaceship so you can escape in time.

The Other Side

Step into The Other Side. This paranormal experience is inspired by the alternate dimension craze that’s sweeping the nation. Find out if you have the courage and wits to get past supernatural creatures and rescue a lost boy before it’s too late.

The Lost Tomb

Get a taste of what it’s like to be Indiana Jones in The Lost Tomb. Navigate through hidden chambers to recover artifacts before the eclipse obliterates your chance of escaping.

Each Stone Oak escape room is appropriate for adults and teens, but young kids under 12 may want to stick to Encounter and The Lost Tomb. No matter how old you are, trying to escape the room just got four times more fun in San Antonio!
